Kolon Global (CEO & President Kim Youngbum) is accelerating innovation in the construction industry through the adoption of AI and its internally developed digital platform.

Kolon Global announced on the 5th that it has developed 'KNIT' (KGC Nexus Integrated Technology), an in-house integrated platform. 'KNIT' consolidates five separate internal digital solutions—which previously required employees to log into individually—into a single interface. The platform is drawing significant industry attention as it was fully developed and built by internal personnel without relying on external vendors.

'KNIT' integrates the databases and infrastructure of five existing systems into a unified portal: ▲the MI Dashboard for real-time real estate indicator metrics and visualization, ▲the jobsite daily construction monitoring system, ▲the AI recommendation system for unregistered trade partners, ▲the raw material price monitoring system, and ▲the order review voting system.

Previously, personnel had to log into each system separately to manage data. The introduction of KNIT has significantly improved workflow accessibility and data utilization efficiency. Furthermore, future functional enhancements will involve adding modules directly onto KNIT rather than building new standalone systems, thereby saving development time and costs.

The practical impact of Kolon Global's AI adoption is evident in performance metrics. Previously, selecting partners for unregistered trade categories required staff to manually review multiple criteria—such as project name, region, and credit rating—resulting in a backlog of approximately 700 cases per year. Now, AI leverages historical selection data and criteria to automatically recommend suitable companies, allowing personnel to focus solely on final decision-making. The company is also broadening AI-driven operational efficiency by initiating Phase 2 development for its estimation support system 'KO.PLAN.AI' and expanding the learning scope of its AI chatbot 'KOAI.BOT'.

Kolon Global has also digitized and automated jobsite safety management. The Control Center Dashboard—which monitors site CCTV feeds in real time—is integrated with apparent temperature sensors, fire detectors, and tower crane collision alarms, enabling potential hazards to be identified immediately on a single screen. By streamlining the workflow from non-conformity detection to notification, corrective action, and completion, the company achieved a 100% resolution rate.

If the apparent temperature exceeds threshold limits during summer, automated alerts are sent to site managers via SMS and internal messenger. Heat illness monitoring equipment has completed field testing and has been deployed across all jobsites. Additionally, 'Vision AI'—co-developed with Kolon Benit—filed a patent application last March, and a third phase of field testing is currently underway to expand its detection capabilities.

To deliver accurate safety instructions and work orders to foreign workers, an AI automated translation and interpretation system completed a month-long Proof of Concept (PoC) on-site; the company is currently evaluating full deployment based on the results.

Kolon Global has also embedded drone utilization into its standard business processes. Since March of this year, drone usage has been codified into procedures for preliminary site surveys during the bidding phase and for collecting completion records, with application guidelines established for each procurement type. The proprietary drone platform is expanding into building construction sites, while fully autonomous drone stations are currently undergoing field validation. During first-half new employee training, 23 personnel successfully earned drone operator certifications.

Furthermore, Kolon Global is continuously expanding field applications by completing real-world validation of smart equipment—including smart space heaters for concrete curing, toxic gas detectors for confined spaces, non-destructive testing technologies, and structural displacement monitors. Participating in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) Smart Construction Alliance Technology Demonstration Support Program, the company is also pursuing field testing for 3D excavators and finishing robots.
