Each subsidiary of KOLON is systematically managing and reducing carbon dioxide emissions to secure competitiveness in environmental issues caused by climate change at home and abroad and expanding R&D and investment in eco-friendly businesses.

One & Only Hydrogen Value Chain

KOLON is building a value chain across the hydrogen economy by participating as a member of H2MEET, a consultative body leading the hydrogen economy in Korea, and creating synergies between our subsidiaries based on core technologies in materials and parts.

KOLON INDUSTRIES: The first mass-production of moisture control devices in Korea, No. 1 in global market share, Targeting core PEM/MEA markets for hydrogen fuel cells, KOLON GLOBAL:	Green hydrogen production using water electrolysis technology, KOLON GLOTECH: Hydrogen pressure tank business using carbon fiber and epoxy, KOLON ENP: Production of housing parts to improve hydrogen fuel cell efficiency KOLON INDUSTRIES: The first mass-production of moisture control devices in Korea, No. 1 in global market share, Targeting core PEM/MEA markets for hydrogen fuel cells, KOLON GLOBAL:	Green hydrogen production using water electrolysis technology, KOLON GLOTECH: Hydrogen pressure tank business using carbon fiber and epoxy, KOLON ENP: Production of housing parts to improve hydrogen fuel cell efficiency

KOLON INDUSTRIES is playing a pivotal role in KOLON’s hydrogen business, providing comprehensive solutions based on their technologies accumulated over a long time in the hydrogen fuel cell field. KOLON GLOBAL is producing and supplying green hydrogen with water electrolysis technologies using hydrogen fuel cells based on its wind power business. KOLON GLOTECH is driving a hydrogen pressure tank business using carbon fiber and epoxy. KOLON ENP is producing and supplying housing parts to improve the efficiency of hydrogen fuel cells based on engineering plastics technology for vehicles.

Leading the wind power business

KOLON GLOBAL continues to produce results in the new and renewable energy sector by participating in power generation operations and constructing wind farms.

In addition to operating Gyeongju Wind Power Complex 1·2 (37.5㎿) and Taebaek Gadeoksan Complex 1 (43.2㎿), Yangyang Manwolsan (42.0㎿), Taebaek Gadeoksan Complex 2 (21㎿), Taebaek Hasami (16.8㎿), and Yeongdeok Sunrise are currently under construction, along with plans to begin construction for the Pyeongchang Hoenggye Wind Complex. In particular, the Taebaek Gadeoksan Complex 1, completed in 2021, was the first project involving resident participation in Korea, receiving the spotlight as a best practice for creating win-win situations with the local community.

Developing unrivaled eco-friendly technologies

KOLON continues to invest in developing resource recycling technologies and eco-friendly materials according to circular economy trends.

Use recycled plastic raw materials

KOLON INDUSTRIES was the first to develop and commercialize polyester (PCR PET) films using recycled plastic (Post Consumer Recycled, PCR). We also succeeded in developing PBAT (Polybutylene Adipate-co-Terephthalate), a biodegradable plastic product that decomposes naturally within 6 months at a landfill.

Water treatment technology development the world's first low-energy separators

KOLON GLOBAL developed the world’s first low-energy separation membrane water treatment technology and is expanding its application to sewage and wastewater treatment plants in Korea. The company also developed bio-green hydrogen production technologies for the first time in Korea, which produces hydrogen by processing organic waste such as food waste, manure, and wastewater treatment plant residuals.

Accelerating eco-friendly construction technologies and carbon neutrality

Development of Modular Building Technology and Completion of Zero Energy Building

KOLON GLOBAL is establishing the foundation for eco-friendly growth in construction. We are accelerating the development of modular construction technology by modularizing major factory structures and completing buildings through minimal assembly processes at construction sites. This construction technology is drawing attention as a representative eco-friendly construction method due to its high rate of reusing modules and ease of dismantling and moving buildings. In 2018, the KOLON One & Only Tower was completed as a zero-energy building in Seoul’s Magok district, realizing energy savings by utilizing renewable energy and the structure of the building. The tower earned LEED Gold certification in 2018 for the first time in Korea.

Acquire EcoVadis Gold Rating

KOLON INDUSTRIES received a GOLD sustainability score from EcoVadis, the world’s most trusted provider of business sustainability ratings, in recognition of its eco-friendly efforts to improve all workplaces for carbon neutrality. EcoVadis’s gold rating is only awarded to the top 5% of 2,607 chemical companies subject to examination worldwide. KOLON INDUSTRIES ranked in the top 3% by receiving high scores in the environment and labor sectors.

Providing value beyond fashion

KOLON INDUSTRIES FnC is building a unique brand through upcycling eco-friendly and recycled materials. The NOACH project is KOLON Sport’s campaign launched in 2016 to protect endangered animals and plants in Korea. We use eco-friendly materials and manufacturing methods to make products for the project and donate part of the proceeds to environmental groups. RE;CODE, our upcycling brand, shares the value and culture beyond fashion with consumers by bringing new life to discarded clothing stock and used industrial materials, such as airbags and car seats.
