Key affiliates including Kolon Industries, Kolon ENP, and Kolon Spaceworks participate

Advanced hydrogen technologies including hydrogen mobility, storage, and components gather in one place

Aims to lead the global hydrogen industry value chain and realize an eco-friendly future

Kolon Group will participate in the World Hydrogen EXPO (WHE) 2025, the world's largest hydrogen industry expo, held at KINTEX in Ilsan, Gyeonggi-do, for four days starting on the 4th. The company will showcase cutting-edge technologies and solutions covering the entire hydrogen industry spectrum, from production to storage and utilization.

This expo, which integrates the domestic flagship hydrogen industry exhibition ‘H2 MEET’ and the international hydrogen conference that began in 2020, will see massive participation from companies and institutions representing the global hydrogen industry. As a central player in Korea's hydrogen industry, Kolon Group has participated in every H2 MEET since its inception. This year, affiliates including Kolon Industries, Kolon ENP, and Kolon Spaceworks will again showcase their unique technological capabilities.

Kolon Industries, which plays a key role in the group's hydrogen business sector, will exhibit advanced hydrogen technology components and materials such as moisture control devices, polymer electrolyte membranes (PEM), and membrane electrode assemblies (MEA), which are core elements of hydrogen mobility.

It will showcase moisture control devices applied to Hyundai Motor's ‘The All-New Nexo’, along with products for various applications including emergency power generation, ships, and trains. Having supplied moisture control devices to Hyundai Motor since 2013, Kolon Industries currently sells these devices under its own brand ‘Ecomate’ for diverse applications in North America, China, and Europe. Notably, the company's fuel cell moisture control device, the world's first of its kind, holds over 50% of the global market share.

PEM and MEA, which form the core stack of fuel cell systems and generate electrical energy and heat by reacting hydrogen and oxygen, were also developed using Kolon Industries' proprietary technology, boasting competitive advantages in durability and other areas.

Kolon Industries plans to expand its business scope into green hydrogen production materials by improving its electrolysis material technology. Furthermore, in response to perfluorinated compounds (PFAS) regulations, the company has initiated development of hydrocarbon-based PEM, seeking to proactively pursue commercialization in the electrolysis field.

Kolon ENP will exhibit core hydrogen vehicle component materials, such as muffler housings, heater housings, membrane humidifier housings, and ion filter housings, proposing high-performance material solutions optimized for hydrogen vehicle characteristics. These materials are designed to meet performance requirements such as dimensional stability, low ion leaching, and gas reduction, while ensuring component durability and reliability even in extreme environments. Through this, the company plans to showcase its integrated material technology capabilities that further enhance the efficiency and quality of hydrogen electric vehicle systems.

Kolon Spaceworks will showcase its self-developed carbon fiber intermediate material ‘Towpreg’ and hydrogen fuel tanks. These products offer outstanding lightweight properties and durability, making them applicable across diverse fields including automobiles, ships, missile combustion chambers, and space launch vehicles. The 54-liter hydrogen fuel tank has obtained UN ECE R134 certification, validating the safety of the hydrogen storage system.

Kolon Spaceworks has expanded beyond supplying individual components to developing hydrogen storage system modules, growing its hydrogen storage solutions business targeting global automakers. Notably, it has demonstrated its technological prowess by internalizing the entire manufacturing value chain—from intermediate material development to component molding and system modules—using Kolon Group's proprietary technologies.

A Kolon official stated, “Based on world-class technological capabilities, Kolon Group has supplied core components and materials to various hydrogen industries, including hydrogen mobility and water electrolysis,” adding, “We will continue to develop diverse products as a leading company driving the hydrogen economy.”
