Kolon Group announced that on the 29th and the 30th, Vice Chairman Lee Kyu-ho and CEOs of major affiliates had attended the 2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit in Gyeongju to explore new business cooperation opportunities.
Heo Sung, CEO of Kolon Industries' Manufacturing Division, participated in the hydrogen-related session at the APEC CEO Summit 2025 during this period. CEO Heo discussed business cooperation opportunities through networking with representatives from global hydrogen economy leaders, including Hyundai Motor.
Kolon Industries has played a central role in the group's hydrogen business, accumulating hydrogen fuel cell-related technologies such as membrane and separator membrane technology for hydrogen fuel cells over the past 30 years. Since 2013, it has maintained the top global market share by establishing Korea's first mass production system for moisture control devices. It also began mass production and sales of polymer electrolyte membranes (PEM), a core component of hydrogen fuel cells, in 2021, becoming the first in Korea to establish mass production facilities.
Yoo Seok-jin, CEO of Kolon Industries' FnC Division ('KolonFnC'), a fashion specialist company, also explored global business collaboration opportunities in Gyeongju by interacting with key domestic and international fashion and distribution company representatives. CEO Yoo focused on strengthening networking with Asian companies, particularly China, and seeking opportunities for strategic partnerships. During a meeting with China's largest e-commerce platform JD.com, potential cooperation was explored not only in brand partnerships but also in JD.com's logistics and maintenance (MRO) business sectors. With Bosideng, a leading Chinese fashion group, discussions centered on specific business cooperation models leveraging Bosideng's distribution network and brand operation infrastructure, as well as Kolon FnC's strategy for entering the Chinese market.
Kolon FnC is expanding its position as a luxury brand representing Korea in the Northeast Asian market, focusing on the global outdoor brand ‘Kolon Sport’, which is experiencing remarkable growth, and the high-end golfwear brand ‘G/FORE’. In particular, through differentiated branding strategies and design capabilities, it is establishing itself as a representative of K-luxury within K-fashion, leading global fashion trends.
Jeon Seung-ho, CEO of Kolon TissueGene, shared the company's current status through networking meetings with global healthcare companies such as MSD (Merck) and Organon. He also met with key industry figures, including the CEO of Bloomage Biotech in China, to discuss cooperation plans.
CEO Jeon had previously participated as a member of the ABAC BioHealthcare Working Group (BHWG) during the past year, chaired by Vice Chairman Lee Kyu-ho. The response strategy selected by the BHWG to address the increase in aging populations and chronic diseases is highly likely to be addressed as a future public-private cooperation plan. Kolon TissueGene's core pipeline, TG-C, is a treatment for osteoarthritis, a representative chronic disease of the elderly. If its future clinical success and commercialization are combined with data and AI utilization, it is expected to become a pivotal solution encompassing ‘policy-business-global social issues’.
CEO Ahn Sang-hyun of Kolon Spaceworks, a leading advanced composite materials company, engaged with key domestic and international aerospace and defense industry representatives to explore ways to strengthen technological cooperation and cross-industry linkages. Kolon Spaceworks has emphasized the importance of supply chain cooperation within the aerospace and defense industries amid the rapidly changing global aerospace industry and battlefield environment. The company aims to establish a platform for inter-industry technology exchange based on its accumulated technological capabilities and experience in the advanced composite materials field.
Kolon Spaceworks provides integrated technology solutions spanning materials to product design and manufacturing across diverse industries—including aerospace, defense, and mobility—leveraging its composite material technology. In order to strengthen its global market competitiveness, the company has expanded its portfolio of high-performance composite material applications, such as space launch vehicle and satellite components, aircraft structural materials, lightweight ballistic protection parts, and lightweight components for future mobility.
