Won the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport (MOLIT) Award for road site management technology using digital twins

Won the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy (MOTIE) Award for advanced membrane separation technology for wastewater treatment on the same day

Kolon Global (CEO & President Kim Jung-il) announced on the 27th that it had been recognized for its technological excellence by winning the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Award and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy Award at the same time.

Kolon Global received the top prize, the MOLIT Award, at the '17th Construction Technology Research Excellence Cases Presentation' hosted by the Korea Construction Management Association and sponsored by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport at the Korea Press Center.

The technology that won the MOLIT Award in the Safety and Environment category is 'Changing the paradigm of road site management using digital twins'. This is a technology that preemptively identifies problems that may occur during the construction process and optimizes construction and operation management in a virtual environment through the fusion of real and virtual 3D data. Kolon Global is applying and upgrading this technology to the Hwatae / Baekya sites in Yeosu, and expects to significantly improve on-site collaboration and safety / quality management capabilities by linking with BIM data and drone photogrammetry technology.

On the same day, Kolon Global also received the MOTIE Award for its 'advanced low-energy wastewater treatment technology based on a blowless cleaning method using a domestic separation membrane' at the '2024 Industrial Technology Promotion Merit and Korea Technology Awards' held at COEX, Seoul.

The Korea Technology Awards recognizes outstanding new technologies and products with outstanding technical achievements and significant industrial impact. In line with the government's policy to advance wastewater treatment facilities over the past 30 years, Kolon Global has been leading the field of membrane-based water treatment by domestically developing new technologies for wastewater treatment and applying them to more than 70 treatment plants nationwide. More recently, it has developed and distributed world-class low-energy technology that applies a blowless cleaning method, contributing significantly to carbon neutrality and industrial competitiveness through electricity savings. In recognition of these achievements, Kolon Global was awarded the top prize in the Korea Technology Awards.

“We received two ministerial awards as a result of our efforts in R&D and technological innovation in various domains including environment and safety,” said an official from Kolon Global. “We will continue to make our best efforts to overcome the traditional limitations of the construction industry and continue our innovative growth through the demonstration and advancement of advanced technologies.”

Meanwhile, Kolon Global is accelerating digital transformation and smart construction based on a variety of new technologies and construction methods. The company operates the Smart Construction Team and the Future Technology Team, and holds a total of 370 intellectual property rights in green technology and design, including more than 180 domestic and foreign patents.
