▷ Set up a corporate control tower for safety & health, a ‘Safety & Health Center’, under the direct aegis of the CEO

KOLON Industries (CEO, Jang Hee-gu) are stepping up the implementation of ‘Zero Risk Safety & Health’. CEO Jang toured the major business sites to check their current safety status and promote a safety-oriented business culture to the employees.

Starting with the Gyeongsan plant in Gyeongbook Province on the 17th of January, CEO Jang visited the Ulsan plant on the 18th, the Gimcheon (first and second) and Gumi sites on the 25th and 26th to check the safety management status of key production / research facilities as well as the aramid fiber plant currently under expansion.

At the ‘safety meeting’ held in the field, Mr Chang stressed the company’s “management philosophy with no compromise on safety” and asked employees to “proactively remove harmful elements to implement the ‘Zero Risk Safety & Health’ initiative.

KOLON Industries intends to step up pre-emptive safety and health checks by transferring safety checks previously undertaken by respective business sites to a corporate audit team consisting of experts: the Safety & Health Center, under the direct aegis of the CEO.

In addition, the company has introduced a number of safety programs. Since 2015, to promote a safety-focused culture, a ‘Safety Day Campaign’ has been held on the 4th of every month in the form of a letter sent out to all employees to raise awareness of essential safety and health-related issues. Also a ‘Reward Scheme for Good Safety Plants’ has been in place since 2020, in which plants with high safety standards are selected by assessing risk identification / improvement and safety implementation activities over the past year.

CEO Jang also annually hosts a ‘New-Year’s Lunch Meeting with the CEO’ where employees above Team Leaders in the HQ are invited to speak with him. He also plans to continue field management by visiting the Yeosu and Daesan plants on the 8th and 9th of next month.
