Held the 2024 outstanding athlete award ceremony for the Kolon Para Sports Team, honoring more than 30 athletes.

Athletes of the Kolon Para Sports Team have been posting excellent results in a number of competitions under the active support of Kolon Group. This year, they won more than 110 medals in various competitions including the 2024 Paris Paralympics and the National Para Sports Games.

On the 11th, Kolon Group announced that it had held the award ceremony for 'Outstanding Kolon Sports Disabled Athletes' at Kolon Sporex, Secho. The ceremony was attended by the athletes and their guardians, as well as Song Seung-hwe, head of Kolon Para Sports Team, Kim Sung-chun, director of the Gyeonggi East branch of the Korea Disability Employment Agency, and Shin Bok-yong, vice chairman of the Gyeonggi Para Sports Association.

The main honorees of the ceremony were Seo Hoon-tae, a pistol shooter who won a bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Paralympics and multiple medals at the National Paralympic Games; Kim Na-young (a 4-time swimming champion), Park Sung-soo and 30 other athletes who won medals in various sports including bowling, badminton, table tennis, and swimming at the National Paralympic Games. Kolon Group presented them each with a cash prize in recognition of their efforts.

“I was able to achieve good results because Kolon officials personally visited the competition venue to cheer me on and provided a lot of support including training clothes and swimsuits which can be very expensive,” said Park Sung-soo. “I’ll continue to work hard to be a better athlete with Kolon.”

Kolon Group established the Kolon Para Sports Team in 2021 with the aim of fulfilling its corporate social responsibility by developing the capabilities of people with disabilities. Currently, there are 125 athletes in 10 sports, belonging to major affiliates of Kolon Group. The Group continues to recruit athletes through business agreements with organizations such as the Gyeonggi Paralympic Committee and the Korea Employment Agency for Persons with Disabilities', expanding the scope of its support.

The company also lends practical support to athletes to improve their skills. Kolon Group provides athletes with sports equipment such as competition suits and team uniforms, as well as training facilities such as 'Kolon Sporex,' a sports center operated by Kolon Global. In addition, dedicated management personnel with relevant qualifications, such as lifestyle sports instructors and para-sports coaches, are deployed to provide personalized solutions on training schedules and diets to accelerate athletes’ development.

“Our athletes are not only performing well, but they are also contributing to the development of our organizational culture by raising the pride of our employees and improving awareness of people with disabilities,” said Song Seung-hwe, head of Kolon Para Sports Team. “We will continue to make efforts to contribute to the development of Korean para sports by recruiting outstanding athletes and expanding the number of sports we support.”

The athletes of Kolon Para Sports Team have been performing well in a number of competitions since its inception. The organization produced two gold medalists at the Para World Shooting Championships in Lima in 2023 and two bronze medalists in fencing at the Hangzhou Para Asian Games in 2022. Kolon athletes have won around 250 medals in domestic and international competitions to date.
