Kolon Benit (CEO Kang Yi-gu), an IT service company of the Kolon Group, announced on the 9th that it had started a 'Vision AI’ demonstration project to verify artificial intelligence technology specific to safety monitoring at construction sites. In collaboration with Kolon Global, Kolon Benit will apply its next-generation vision AI technology to construction sites and verify the technology and prove business feasibility. This is the first case of demonstrating the application of vision AI based on domestic AI semiconductors (NPUs) to the construction industry.
Kolon Benit plans to apply Vision AI to integrated control centers and CCTVs installed at Kolon Global's construction sites to improve the speed and accuracy of object detection. It is expected to be instrumental in preventing safety accidents at construction sites, such as cracking down on people not wearing safety helmets, checking for slips and falls, and preventing fires by detecting ignition points.
To ensure the success of the project, Kolon Benit has acquired additional AI servers equipped with the latest X330 chipset from Sapeon, an AI semiconductor company. The company is focusing on improving its technology by involving the AI Brain Lab, which integrates corporate AI infrastructure and AI experts from R&BD. The company will continue to build operational capabilities for AI infrastructure while at the same time gradually expanding the business applications of Vision AI.
Following the completion of this project, Kolon Benit plans to continue to enhance its vision AI technology specialized in industries such as manufacturing, construction, and distribution in conjunction with large-scale language models (LLM) and small-scale language models (sLLM). Further, the company aims to create a 'multimodal AI service' that can utilize various types of data such as text, images and voice input.
"Kolon Benit is actively undertaking projects to internalize and commercialize AI technology through our R&BD," said Han Hyun, head of R&D at Kolon Benit. "We intend to successfully complete this demonstration project and confirm its business potential."
